History:
From day one, Flytrap Brewing has been created as a community centered business with a neighborhood feel. Â Our roots begin here in Wilmington, NC, a port city with a vibrant history and burgeoning craft beer scene
Mike Barlas, founder and head brewer, is proud to share his passion with the community. Mike has lived in Wilmington since 2004. While earning his MBA from UNCW, he started homebrewing in his garage and was hooked from day one. His excitement for craft beer and brewing grew strong as he developed the ‹plan to open Flytrap Brewing.  He dedicated himself to brewing the best possible beers he could.  His focus is creating American and Belgian ales that are well balanced and full of flavor. Mike and his wife, Emily, are excited to have the opportunity to share this  journey  with  fellow  beer  lovers,  from  Wilmington  and beyond.  ‹
Flytrap's story began here, at  319 Walnut Street, ‹an old office building converted into the brewery and tap-room.  Flytrap Brewingopened October, 15, 2014 during Wilmington Beer Week. We are thrilled to be a part of the Wilmington craft beer scene and excited to share our brewing adventures with you!
