The passion started the day I tasted a beer that was so full of flavor it brought me to life. I didn’t know that beer could taste that good! Once that happened I wanted to find out more about where all of that flavor came from, and then came the dream of making my own amazing beer.
In 2011, by the luck of fate, some new neighbors moved in down the road from where I live. They were opening up a brewery there, and Twisted Vine was born! As a curious neighbor and beer connoisseur, I was anxious to see what they were all about. Their operations were somewhat fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants…. but if you know me, you know that I’m ok with that! I fit right in (somewhat, anyway).
First batch of beer ready to deliver! After many hours of volunteering in their brewery, a few thousand questions on how and why, and learning from their successes and mistakes, I gained an education. Mostly I just do what I was told! Brian kept telling me, “Just do THIS and don’t worry about it!” And that’s what I still do today.
As the Twisted Vine Brewery grew, so did the demand for their beer to many happy customers. This meant they were moving to bigger facility and larger equipment. So I asked — “HEY BOYS, what are you going to do with the brew house that you have now?” They offered me their equipment, and that is when the Big Rack Brew Haus was born. Over a cold beer and a handshake we were off and running.
My passion for making great beer continues to grow. The goal of all of us here at Big Rack is to make all aspects of beer amazing, even if it means bending the rules a wee bit along the way. Our location in the rolling hills of Madison County is a perfect fit for beer makers who love the outdoors, mother nature, and hunting the big horned monsters as much as we do. We work hard, play hard and strive to do everything to the highest standards.
