About Us:
Commonwealth Brewing Co was born out of owners Jeramy and Natalie's love for creating truly unique craft beers and enjoying them with friends. The spark of inspiration was ignited in 2001 during a revelatory German and Austrian brewery and beer hall tour while Jeramy was visiting Natalie, who was studying abroad.  But it wasn't until 2012 after two children, years of stove top experimentation, beer geekery and a burgeoning house full of brewing equipment, they began seriously discussing the possibility of creating a brewery. Jeramy began making lots of test batches and a business plan soon followed.
Their travels and mutual appreciation for exploring and creating new and old beer styles made the perfect foundation for building a forward thinking, up and coming brewery.
Finding a building with the right character, space and location was not easy. However, it seemed fitting to build it in the funky beach cottage community of Chic's Beach where they first met. After a year of touring too many warehouses and not quite right buildings, they found the old Chesapeake Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue station. With one look, they knew it was meant to be Commonwealth Brewing Co.
