Our Story

North Carolina's New Hanover County and the City of Wilmington are rich in history and beauty.  Ironclad Brewery has tapped into this by painstakingly revitalizing an historic building dating back to 1925 in the city's downtown.  While all of the utilities within the building had to be replaced, the interior brick walls and roof have been kept intact.  The 2nd story wood flooring that was installed in the mid-twentieth century when the building was used as an automotive repair shop was removed piece by piece. The wood was then planed and reused within the brewery.

Much like the craftsmen that hand forged the ironclad class of ships at Beery's Shipyard in WIlmington during the Civil War, Ironclad's brewing staff take the same pride in their creations.  Using only the finest malts, hops and other ingredients, our brewers hand forge a wide range of styles of craft beer that will surely delight every palate.

The entire building is over 10,000 square feet, with two floors that both have craft beer, bar seating, and event space.
