Jughandle Brewing Co. is owned by three friends - Pete Artherholt and Mike Skudera of Tinton Falls and Chris Hanigan of Red Bank.
Jughandle Brewing Co. started to take form in the fall of 2014. Pete and Chris were independently dreaming of opening a brewery. Both had been home brewing for 15+ years, and both were thinking about the next chapter in life. Mike just ended his term as mayor of Tinton Falls and ready to take on a new venture.
We spent the fall and winter reading, researching, and writing a business plan. The company was officially formed in April 2015. We entered into lease negotiations in the summer and applied for a variance to have a manufacturing use in a retail location, which was granted in September 2015. State and federal applications were filed shortly after and the real work began. Pretty much everything in the brewery was built by Pete, Chris and Mike, their wives Darlene, Mandy, and Nadia, along with family and friends. We received our state permit this past March and the last of our inspections took place the first week of June. Jughandle opened to the public on June 18, 2016.
