Spotted Dog Brewery

2920 Avenida de Mesilla

After fifteen years of brewing experiments and research - such as malting, milling, and roasting grain, recreating historical beer recipes, and brewing in his wife's kitchen - Jerry Grandle decided it was time to take things to a new level. In September 2014, the Spotted Dog Brewery opened, run by Jerry and his wife, Susan. The brewery is named after Ryleigh, the family's bluetick hound. Our beers have been enjoyed in many states by family and friends, from California to New York. Now that our doors are open to the public, we are proud to be Mesilla's only microbrewery and gladly share our beers with the Mesilla Valley and its visitors.

Great local joint ! Peanuts on the table, good beer selection inventive menu with great sandwiches. What's not to like......? I had the IPA (nicely balanced) and Deb the Amber Ale (nicely rounded with a nutty finish). My Red Chili Reuben was a taste explosion and Deb enjoyed her Eggplant Parmesan Black Bean Burger. Both the Fries and Onion Rings we're perfectly cooked and not greasy. Caitlyn did a great job of keeping an eye on our table and looking after us. This was a very enjoyable meal.

Definitely a place to visit if you love beer and are in downtown Mesilla. Their beer was great (my favorite being the IPA, even though I'm not usually an IPA kinda person). Their garlic and herb fries (with real garlic pieces) are the perfect accompaniment to their beer tasters. I would definitely visit again. I have two complaints though: 1) they don't offer non-alcoholic drinks other than sodas (no iced tea!?) and 2) they waste a lot of paper with the individual beer taster signs, which in my opinion are quite unnecessary.

Bad experience: I decided to stop and enjoy a basketball game on tv and enjoy a fountain drink with a sandwich because I don't drink but was stopped outside before I could even enter. I was told by a white man that they were closing, it was 8:30 business hours are until 10:30. I am a tall bald Hispanic off duty officer so I respected his word and walked off. Then I noticed he allowed two white men to enter 1 minute after. I did notice all customers in the patio area were white. I didn't even get a chance to even sit at a table. I will never set foot in the parking lot again because I couldn't step foot in the building the first time...racist business.

Capture the great vibes of a solid brewery that makes any afternoon the best place to be. With mouth watering ales and food to boot you will not be dissappointed in your visit. Come by and visit the locals that support this fine establishment. Cheers!

I had a flight here and I enjoyed every beer I tasted. I like the small intimate environment. Service was very friendly and the vibe was excellent.
